Life drawing series with RF. Alvarez
Lovers is a series of figure drawing sessions taught by artist RF. Alvarez, exploring the human form through light, structure, and storytelling – with a mezcal tasting to accompany.
An intimate, immersive evening of art making and mezcal tasting.
Each two-hour candlelit studio session will follow a classic academic structure:
1-minute gesture drawings to warm up
5-minute studies focusing on gesture, value, anatomy, and rhythm
A final 20-minute sustained pose for deeper observation
After the drawing sessions, guests are encouraged to linger and discuss their experience with others
Guests are provided all art-making materials as well as a selection of three mezcals curated by Alvarez to match the evening’s themes. Artists of all levels welcome.
The Sessions
Sessions are built around a central theme determining model choice, artistic focus, and mezcal selection.
Back by popular demand! With a nod to the “first couple of art history,” this session will explore the relationship between two models: focusing on the tension and partnership of masculine and feminine energies. The models for this session are Lovers veterans, returning for a special evening of drawing, learning and community.

A Friday class featuring a new warrior! Named for the famed hero of the battle of Troy, this class will feature musculature and dynamic poses. Artists can expect a session that focuses on the line of movement and how to communicate tension.

The goddess of love and desire serves as inspiration for this session, featuring a single female model and focusing on curvature and line confidence.

Lovers is honored to feature our first pregnant model in this session named for Demeter, the goddess of harvest and bounty. Artists can expect a beautiful evening celebrating lines of the body at this incredible moment.

For the last session of the 2026 season, we are bringing back a crowd favorite, Dionysus – the god of wine, chaos and festivities. This will serve as both a festive cap to our journey together as artists, and a send-off to RF., who leaves for a residency in London for the rest of the year.
