Each Lovers figure drawing session is a two-hour studio gathering centered on drawing from a live nude model. The evening begins with a sequence of one-minute gesture poses to warm up the hand and capture movement, followed by five-minute studies that focus on observation and form. After a short break, the session concludes with longer sustained poses that allow artists to develop a more resolved drawing. Each session will be accompanied by a tasting of three mezcals curated by RF. Alvarez. Wine will also be provided. Guests are welcome to linger afterward to share work and conversation.
Frequently Asked Questions
What materials should I bring? Do I have to use charcoal?
Charcoal and paper will be provided, along with a drawing board and lamp. While charcoal is the traditional medium for figure drawing and works especially well for studying light and structure, artists are welcome to bring other materials including graphite, ink, paint, or even sculptural materials. If you plan to bring your own medium, please contact us in advance so we can prepare the space.
What skill level is required?
All experience levels are welcome. Some participants may have extensive drawing experience while others may be drawing from the live model for the first time. The session structure—from quick gestures to a longer pose—works well for both beginners and experienced artists.
Will the model be nude?
Yes. These are traditional nude figure drawing sessions. The environment is professional and respectful at all times, and participants are expected to treat the model and fellow artists with courtesy.
Are seats limited?
Yes. Each session is limited to 35 drawing seats. The room is arranged so artists have clear sightlines to the model and enough space to work comfortably.
Will there be talking during the session?
Artists are encouraged to keep conversation to a minimum during drawing poses in order to respect the focus of others. Quiet comments between neighbors are fine, but the atmosphere is primarily a focused studio environment. After the session concludes, guests are welcome to stay, share work, and mingle.
What if I don’t like mezcal?
RF.’s studio is located across from Small’s Pizza, which offers a wonderful selection of wine and beer and has graciously offered a 20% discount for any session members. Guests are welcome to walk a bottle over (ice bucket and all!). Please keep in mind the sessions are respectful studio environments while our models are working.
What is the dress code?
There is no formal dress code, but charcoal dust can travel. We recommend wearing clothing that you don’t mind getting a little messy.
What time should I arrive?
Sessions begin promptly at 8:00 PM. Guests are welcome to arrive starting at 7:30 PM to settle in and choose a drawing spot. Arriving early is recommended.
Are phones allowed during the session?
Phones should be silenced and put away during drawing poses. Out of respect for the model and other artists, photography during the session is not permitted.

If a session sells out, you can email us to be added to the waitlist in case of a cancellation.
